Woodenbridge Golf Club was founded in 1884 and affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland in 1899 making it one of the oldest golf clubs in the country. The course is situated in the heart of Wicklow on the Avoca river, which comes into play in no less than 10 holes, each providing unique challenges for players of all handicaps. Some of the finer holes include the 437 yard 6th and the magnificent 18th, which is a par 5 begging the brave to flirt with danger from the tee. The course is set in a natural amphitheatre; in a valley surrounded by woodland slopes with the rivers Avoca and Aughrim running through the course. The wildlife that flourishes throughout the area and the old trees that infringe on the fairways add to the spectacle of this beautiful course.
