The Strand Course, opened in 1992, is the jewel in Portstewart's crown. It presents a true test of golf set in classic links country amid towering sand dunes with views at every turn of the blue Donegal hills, the rolling Atlantic and the tranquil estuary of the River Bann. This is a true links course and the fast greens are in excellent condition all year round. While ardent golfers will play the Strand course, also available for play are the par 64 Old Course and nine holes Riverside Course. Portstewart played host as a qualifying venue in the 1951 British Open and has held all the major amateur national Championships. It's an uncontested view that Portstewart's Strand Course has the best opening hole in Irish Golf.
